Don't think of Brian De Palma's mystery movies as dirty Hitchcock pastiche — think of them as the missing link between Hitchcock and everything else. And fwiw I bet the movies Hitchcock *wanted* to make were 10x dirtier.

Good actors doing broad impressions that haven't aged that well. Still not bad, but Clue is essentially a remake of this that holds up better. 3 stars but I'm going back and bumping Clue from 3.5 to 4

Influential, but too dated and disjointed to be really worth 90 minutes of your time today. The fake TV commercial bits are great.

Draws so heavily from The Driver with Ryan O'Neal and (especially) Thief with James Caan that it almost feels like a remake at times, but still a great movie in its own right.
