I liked the twist but almost everything else was kinda awful.
I usually don't care for horror movies of this kind but James Wan impressed me with this one. His direction, with the inspired score and strong lead performance from Annabelle Wallis, really made Malignant an enjoyable watch for me. Wan doesn't take things too serious, allowing him to inject some humor and move forward with an absolutely wild and unrestrained plot. Well done.
I was hoping this highly anticipated film would meet my expectations and I'm happy to say that it surely did. Even a group of loud talking senior citizens sitting behind me couldn't distract me enough from loving this film. Well written, well acted. Phoenix and Adams were great and Scarlett blew me away with her voice acting. Funny and thought-provoking, it should stay my #1 movie of 2013.
Got to do two things here. Watch the only Nolan film I haven't seen and also one of the many Robin Williams films I haven't seen. This was a little better than I expected. Pacino, Swank and Williams put on very good performances in this murder thriller.
The story was different enough to be interesting but nothing super original or exciting. Still, it wasn't boring and it is worth a watch, especially if you want to see Williams in an unusual role.
