Ben-Hur is a sweeping epic that is grand in scale and production. Charlton Heston is incredible in his portrayal as Judah Ben-hur, and the direction is more or less perfect from William Wyler making this overbloated film feel much shorter. Lots of people talk about the chariot scene, and rightly so, it's absolutely astonishing how this was filmed and still stands up amazingly well today.

No Time to Die is technically outstanding, from the cinematography, the score, and the production design. Daniel Craig is brilliant as Bond once again, good performance and funny quips. Rami Malek was fine as Safin in small doses, however, I found his character fairly weak and hollow, although all of the other supporting characters worked really well. The pacing was excellent, and I was never bored considering the long run time. The action scenes were expertly crafted, very exhilarating at times, and the ending hit the right beats. Daniel Craig will be missed I'm sure.

A sexually charged erotic thriller from David Cronenberg. Crash is very daring in its approach to the storytelling and dialogue, and surely would have generated some controversy when it was released. Led to believe it was a horror film, and whilst it's certainly not a horror, there are definitely some uncomfortable moments depending on what you look for in a film. I admired it, it's shot well, has a haunting score, and displays some great performances.

Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis are absolutely electric in their roles, albeit they play utterly deplorable characters in this perfect noir classic. Sweet Smell of Success has stunning cinematography depicting New York City in all its glory during this period. The lighting and shadows are almost characters in themselves, and I can see why this film is rated so highly. The dialogue is clever, snappy and thoroughly engaging. I adored this film.

I am baffled as to why an Oscar nomination has eluded Tom Hanks for his portrayal of Captain Phillips.

This does not sit well with me. Hanks was remarkable.

Phenomena is crazy, chaotic, and has some of the best use of music I've ever heard in a film, loud, grandiose, and just plain awesome. The location settings and cinematography are wonderful, and and story is insane, but so watchable, very intriguing and highly original. Jennifer Connelly was great, and the visuals were superb. Argento magic!
