Carpenter has quickly become one of my favorite directors. This was constantly engaging, but especially in its last 30 minutes. Snake reminded me a lot of The Man with No Name: they both have rough voices, worn looks, and they don’t say a whole lot. Yet another brilliant score from Carpenter himself. I love the way he moves the camera. That scene in the ring is definitely something I’ve never seen before. The Thing is number one on my want-to-see list. He hit it out the park with Escape From New York.
