This absolutely annihilated my expectations. I was expecting a high budget yet bloated movie, which happens all too often. T2 couldn’t be further from that, however. This is one of the greatest blockbusters of all-time, and that just can’t be argued. The special effects have aged extraordinarily well, for the movie being almost 30 years old. The action sequences are large in scale and expertly crafted. The final 40 minutes are just relentless propulsion; I was astonished at the fact that Cameron never lets you relax in that third act, but it still manages to be one of the most entertaining and riveting finishes to any movie I’ve ever seen. Schwarzenegger and Hamilton are absolutely incredible; this movie plain and simply doesn’t work if either of them aren’t in top form, and thank god they both are. When you take into account the supremely intense and incredibly well-made actions sequences, the brilliant performances from both of the leads, and the surprising amount of genuine emotion infused into the narrative, you have one of the greatest movies of all-time, and that’s exactly what Terminator 2: Judgement Day is.
