Hipster Alchemist’s review published on Letterboxd:
The entire Maze Runner series is basically the choice between saving the world or saving their friends. Thomas chose his friends and Teresa chose the world. Both are not wrong but both could not cope with the other’s choice. For me, Thomas' and Newt's friendship carried the film, I was convinced by all of the performances. Props to the sound design and music as well.
Surprisingly well directed film in terms of the action, I'm looking forward to see what Wes Ball does with his next 'Planet of the Apes' film. Little details like rioters always running around in the background during the city's demolition, props sliding around on set of the crumpling WCKD building really helped sell the film. Every action sequence felt coherent and suspenseful, and I tensed up during the long shot that followed their jump out of the window. Great blend of vfx. Solid film, enjoyment pretty much guaranteed.
Also, Walton Goggins face was fucking disgusting. That's my way of saying they did a great job with the Make up.
