I felt absolutely nothing watching this film. Every character felt superfluously pointless with none of them really being sufficiently fleshed out...which I guess most people would say "it's a slasher film, who cares?", but I still need some decent characterization even if most of those said characters are just going to die anyway. I don't think any other flick has completely sucked me into its world and showed me what I was missing. This was intense. So much so that it made me kind of uncomfortable. I was squirming in my seat. And it was extremely dark. Not color wise, but the subject matter. Villeneuve really knows how to take the most vile subjects and turn them into wholly compelling cinema.
