The Commuter ★★½

The Commuter (2018) - I suppose the only real criticism is that it is very similar to other Liam Neeson films, but otherwise I think it's an alright thriller, though the cynical viewer in me had the film figured out a little bit earlier than I imagine the filmmaker may have wanted. The techniques they use to emphasize the day to day aspect of taking public transit are adequate, if a little bit heavy handed. The regulars we see day to day mixed with strangers, everyone having their own lives outside of this forced situational togetherness are felt in both the atmosphere and the plot. The action was pretty sparse, but with a lot of weight, and situated more to the back half of the film. The plot is much more focused on the mysterious game of cat and mouse which they try to connect with a couple of philosophical concepts but that part fell a little bit flat
