While I don't usually watch documentaries, this one was excellent. Rarely I am moved to tears in the manner that I was watching Mr. Rogers in this film. I am a child of the '80s and grew up watching Mr. Rogers. I knew very little of his story, however.

It was fantastic to see Mr. Rogers stand up for PBS in congress. It moved me to tears. But I loved how this documentary displayed Fred Roger's understanding of the gospel…

    The Birth of a Nation

One of my favorite sports commentators Bomani Jones, always says, "The South won." He uses this phrase as a double entendre. When you think of the rap game, the New York or West Coast rappers are considered the greatest. But in the late '90s, southern rappers started to take over, including the Atlanta-based group Outkast. However, the implied other meaning is that the South didn't lose the Civil War. The Birth of a Nation makes this point.

    Although the film…

In some ways, this story plays out in real-time.  Within a 1 hour 46 minute movie, we watch a  train hijacker demand a ransom delivered within an hour.  Though we don't get a clock like the kind on the TV show 24, the length of time taken from the announcement of the ransom to the attempted delivery is within an hour.

Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) is a recently demoted transit supervisor working dispatch.  He engages with Ryder (John Travolta), the…

I attempted multiple times to watch the original film and could never get through without falling asleep.  I chose not to re-watch it for the 2021 version because why bother?

As the title card revealed, this is the first of a multi-part film.  I think dividing the book's story into multiple parts is an intelligent approach.

The film invites us to learn how a new messiah steps into his role.  The parents of a young man Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet),…

There is a theme I am noticing with the antagonists in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man franchise.  In the first film, Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn turns evil after experimenting with a performance-enhancing chemical.  The idea that the chemical alters him somehow is probable. In the second film Alfred Molina's Otto Octavius, similar to Osborn, is a friend of Peter Parker and considered a great guy.  However, he turns evil when the inhibitor chip to the robotic tentacles on his back is…

Please note that if you haven't read or heard of the synopsis for this film, it deals with sexual violence. My review will address its theme.

I have been doing a tour of all the local theatres in my area since the lockdowns.  I intended to watch Dune only to find out the times online were wrong.  So I went for The Last Duel expecting the previews to be still running as I was only 15 mins late.  If there…
