The greatest movie ever. A movie about watching movies, our relationship to the images, how they have the power to make us feel. It’s how Graham learns to empathize with the Tooth Fairy, and how Dollarhyde sees and so desperately wants to feel. How Petersen and Noonan occupy and navigate their respective spaces, it’s an impressionists’ look into two damaged psyches, where Cox’s Leckter is framed the tightest and more clearly in control of his space, where his evil can…

    (JUSTICE IS GRAY: IMAX)

Was lucky enough to win two tickets to the Justice is Gray Edition in IMAX for a charity screening with proceeds going to AFSP. Oh have I missed the incredible sight and sound afforded with IMAX - the true IMAX! Taking in the full scale of the frame, often getting lost in details in the background, or being in total awe of these godlike beings living on this giant screen, where they can literally be larger…

A shot to the heart. The first time I can remember sobbing actual tears in a movie theater. Improves upon the original as drama (also bearing slight semblances to Spielberg’s own Munich), while the visual-dazzle proves Spielberg to be the greatest to ever do it. With every sequence designed to fully take my breath away. Every emotion searing with cosmic significance. Everyone stole my heart, yes even Ansel. Absolutely speechless. The movie of the year.

Five stars. Spent much of this morning contemplating whether or not the last 6 or so minutes taint the picture? It was maddeningly, all my better half and I could discuss directly after loving every second that preceded. Well, I’ve decided that it doesn’t derail it, but it will be difficult to defend against the hardcore comics readers that I often debate with irl on the merit of the Snyder flicks, those whose attacks usually amount to, “..but he didn’t…

Tarantino’s personal print of the film started with a trailer for Natural Born Killers, which really set the mood. What is there to say? Tony Scott’s godly aesthetic ability compliments QT’s world of romanticized violence brilliantly, at times even feverishly - as in my favorite sequence of the movie, when Slater faces-off with Oldman. The tension builds and builds through the back and forth about egg-rolls and breasts on tv, Oldman so over-the-top and Slater’s naive, sneaky confidence slowly…
