A movie a day keeps the brain cells away.
“I got more films in this goddamn building - three I think - in the Library of Congress, and people still go, ‘what are you doing that for?’, it gets really annoying - you’d think I’d have earned the right to do something.”
Ridley Scott - Prometheus commentary -telling all you assholes to shut the fuck up.
“You killed my mom’s sister.”
That’s pretty much the level of screenwriting we’re dealing with for 140 minutes. Just exposition dump after exposition dump followed by some of the most nonsensical bullshit placed in a movie that cost 175 million dollars.
Ernest Cline wrote a bad book and any adaptation was also going to be bad, but Spielberg made some personal choices that are very bad.
The only thing that’s fun about the movie is imagining some Amblin intern having to explain what a Gundam is, or any of the other 100 pieces of bullshit they plop in the background of some scene.
