Alright, I don't know why I feel the need to write this or who I'm communicating with, but I guess I'll let my feelings slide just right here. I came out today as bisexual to my dad. He did take this news fair and square despite my family's fairly-religious background. He was a lil confused ("do you swing more towards girls or boys..?") but gave some real good advice about this lifestyle and etc. I've been having these feelings ever…

    Twin Peaks: The Return

It's a testament to how something so aggressively downbeat and difficult can make for such an engrossing and masterful piece of media. Movie or television show.

Return almost feels like an ambitious milestone that could've easily fallen into smug, incompetent crap. There are elements that indicate this (off-putting effects, slow and meditative scenes, mental instability of preexisting characters), but under Lynch's hand these far-out elements, plot threads and heavy tonal shifts turn the show into something gripping, thoughtful, and passionate.…

    Super Mario Bros.

Dangerously close to being as erratic, incoherent, and headache-inducing as the current year we're living in. A stunning misfire with hints of enjoyable elements being either demolished or hidden underneath several production issues that are blatantly obvious in the finished product, from the script to the editing, directing, pacing, (mostly) ugly sets, and VFX. It's incredible that this was produced by a major studio.

    I highly recommend it.

Doesn't always stick its landing, thematically or narratively, and I do kinda wish a couple things were fleshed out more, but it is such a relieving comeback to Pixar trying out more ambitious, existential, and entertaining concepts again. For all the previous entries (sequels specifically) that feel like they were treading water, it's nice how Soul feels like it came from a genuine place.

The soundtrack is surprisingly great too. Very pleased with this one.

    HIGH 3.5/5 STARS

I just watched this on artpog's rabbit room. Lots of talking and memey shit flown around, so I only knew half of what was going on. But it's pretty terrible. Acting, cinematography, music, dialogue, pacing, stock footage, etc. Don't bother.
