Utøya: July 22

Utøya: July 22 ★★★★½

This is without a doubt the hardest and most draining movie watching experience I have ever had. From the moment you hear the first shots and for the next ten minutes I sat with tears in my eyes, almost struggling to breath. It felt like the first time I truly dealt with the event that shook my home country to its very core. Its cinema using its power to the max.

I absolutely think David Ehrlich nailed it when he said this movie "re-sensitize us to violence". Focusing only on the victims and the innocent, showing the killer on in two brief glimpses, this is an intense recreation of the gruesome events. It will probably take me weeks to fully process this film.
