Well... I was not expecting that ending. It's definitely a slow burn and the payoff is worth it in the end. The film holds your attention the entire time because, just like Rex, you want to find out where this is going and what happened to his wife. Imagine you get to see what really happened in one of those unsolved mysteries - that's this film. It leaves you perturbed and is just eerie.

As everyone has already stated, this film is beautiful. So much of it looks like it was shot on location yet was shot entirely in a studio.

In the recent B&N Criterion sale I purchased every Wes Anderson film.

This is definitely one of the top WA films. It's Anderson at some of his most indulgent. It has everything a Wes Anderson fan could love. Wes Anderson films just get better and better with rewatch. I'm a sucker for his aesthetics, love his quirkiness and love the mix of dry humor and extremely flawed characters.
