i have always found it impossible to talk about my family. be it to friends, s/o’s, strangers, my therapist or anyone really i can never talk about the inner workings of my family because exposing that part of me is just too fucking embarassing. the hurtful words the ugliness the posturing the expectations the endless financial troubles the chokehold we constantly have over each other’s lives the pressure to conform to a rigid mould of a person and never, ever…

newest favourite agnès varda film just dropped ‼️
i had the goofiest smile plastered on my face the entire time i was watching this. this is the cuba that professors at compulsory political science courses won’t show you because they think a picture of a dilapidated apartment block is a valid representation of or “argument” against socialism. even outside of the politics if you like varda’s documentary style at all i absolutely recommend watching this as her love for the culture and the people shines through as gracefully as ever and the short is superbly edited.

i feel like so many aspects of this film are played for jokes and memes now as well as the past few years, and that’s partly why i wasn’t prepared for just how good and sincere it really is. i’ve had a particularly distressing past few days/weeks but somehow this film with its gentle score paired with the serene shots of mountains and sheep helped undo a lot of my anxiety…
