Somehow I’ve never actually watched this until like a few hours ago but damn I’ve so fucking glad I did, calling this a masterpiece really just isn’t enough man like I honestly think this actually might my new all time favourite, and it’s probably the single greatest achievement in the history of cinema, i know this review sounds so poorly structured but I literally can’t even describe what I’ve just witnessed, it’s all too overwhelmingly amazing.
The hypnotic and striking visuals, haunting soundtrack are for sure some of the best I’ve ever seen and heard and literally everything else about 2001 is utterly flawless of course. But those last 30 minutes or so are completely insane! I can’t express how visually creative and immersive that was to experience my heart was racing the entire time! I know this is another film that’s been talked about to death but Kubrick is just unreal man, every film I’ve seen from him so far I’ve rated at least 4 stars or higher but 2001 is on a different level of filmmaking altogether, I’d give it six if I could honestly. Loved everything about it and one day hopefully I’ll get to watch in theatres. “I’m sorry Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
