Meat pies are so fucking good, especially Mrs. Lovett's 😋😋
Tim Burton is amazing at creating believable locations and great looking ones. The darkness matching the entire film was impressive and beautiful. Johnny Depp delivers a really solid musical performance and really was Sweeney Todd. I personally prefer Helena BC’s performance, but both were great. The ending was also pretty stellar.
The reason why I don’t really like this movie is because it’s simply a bore. Yes, some songs are bangers and are genuinely great but the whole thing felt repetitive and uninteresting in terms of its story. I really wanted to like it. I’m a gay musical lover, so I had much higher hopes but I was ultimately disappointed by the final product. I actually thought that the first half was pretty atrocious, and took WAY too long to become interesting and have an engaging story. A lot of it could’ve been shortened and I was questioning as to why I hated the first act so much.
I don’t know man. I’m disappointed for sure, and I’m sure that the Broadway show was great. I can understand loving it, and there were DEFINITELY some amazing components and moments, but I ultimately thought of it as an uneven, boring, poorly paced drag that, at first, felt like a chore to sit through.
