    It’s a live action Lego movie !!

  • Jungle Cruise

    Jungle Cruise

This was absolutely crazy and I loved it

  • Cruella

I get the whole “let villains be villains” argument but it’s just a really fun film aside from pulling at the 101 Dalmatians link. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson being extravagantly dramatic, the theatrical dresses, the soundtrack! All so much fun.

  • On the Town

    On the Town

I just had a lot of fun watching this to be honest. Will happily watch Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra doing joyful and stupid musical numbers any time.

  • Bill & Ted Face the Music

Bill & Ted Face the Music

If anyone was going to make the world better it was bound to be Bill and Ted

  • Hard Luck

    Hard Luck

A really morbid and dark opening, but with a lot of physical humour that twists and pokes fun at Keaton’s reputation for physical timing. Quite a simple narrative, and it falls into the category of Keaton’s two reelers that are mainly just a collection of gags pulled together. But the gags are a lot of fun and lead up to a really absurd ending.

  • Whisper of the Heart

I too have imposter syndrome and want to fall in love in a library

  • Blue Spring

    Blue Spring

    Japanuary 16/31

Quite a bleak look into the disillusionment of young people in an oddly surreal high school setting. Really brutally examines hopelessness, teenage angst and broken youth, and the entire film has an anarchic energy to it.

  • Ugetsu

    Japanuary 15/31

A lyrical take on folklore and fantasy set against the destructive nature of war, temptation and pride. Bringing the supernatural into a political and earthly realm, Ugetsu was a beautifully haunting watch.

  • Ghost in the Shell

    Ghost in the Shell

    Japanuary 13/31

A really fascinating look into ideas of technology and identity in a dystopian cyberpunk setting. Clearly indebted to the dystopian canon that came before it, but it holds its own for its captivating animation style. I enjoyed this but I feel like I’ll have to revisit it to fully appreciate each layer to it.

  • Stray Cat Rock: Delinquent Girl Boss

Stray Cat Rock: Delinquent Girl Boss

    Japanuary 11/31

The visual style of this film is wonderful. From the costumes to the makeup and lighting everything feels very cool and stylish. The editing and cinematography has a real sense of energy and vitality to it. That being said the script at times let’s the narrative down and it has quite a few lulls to it. Nonetheless a really visually enticing film with some really cool girls fighting in gangs so I have few complaints.

  • Black Lizard

    Black Lizard

    Japanuary 7/31

Lots of fun, very campy and the costumes are stunning. Moves very nicely between glamour and tragedy in a way that balances the pulp crime narrative with themes of beauty and desire. Tons of twists to the plot, but it didn’t always captivate me. But it was a fun watch nonetheless.
