Sam Thompson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Guillermo del Toro masterfully directs Pan's Labyrinth as he weaves his way through the fantasy and war genres. There is a perfect blend as we seamlessly transfer back and forth between fantasy and reality. This is a beautiful looking film full of uniquely gorgeous and horrifying imagery. The narrative and visuals are rich with symbolism and poignant themes.
Pan's Labyrinth is a fairytale like no other and it honestly became one of my favourite films on this rewatch. This is Del Toro's magnum opus and I doubt he will ever top it. Please please see this if you somehow haven't yet. It's a must watch for any film nerd.
We covered Pan's Labyrinth for the latest episode of our podcast so you can hear my full thoughts here! It was an interesting episode to say the least so it's worth the listen.
