This one hit close to home. As an immigrant, this film brought up so many memories of my family’s experiences in America. It accurately reflects the struggles that come with the immigrant experience and the importance of finding home in family. Loved the score, the performances by the cast, and the humor provided by the savage David and Soon-ja.
It’s a simple but intimate and tender movie. It contains a universal story that many can resonate with. Minari is about resilience and displacement, but it also feels like representation and a warm hug. Cried with this one but loved it a lot.
I have never seen an Asian show organically blow up and become a cultural phenomenon like the way Squid Game has. It’s insane. And as a fellow Asian, it’s great to see it become mainstream and get the recognition it deserves. I’m proud of the show’s global success and love that many are enjoying…
