"The real Hell is your life gone wrong."
A lot of people are unhappy with this movie, and I get it. What people talk about when they say this film is an insult to people who have killed themselves, they're extremely right. It would be terrible for anyone to say suicides suffer eternally.
And while Cuba Gooding Jr's character does say that, he's wrong. The film, in one small slice of the universe we see, shows us it's not set…
I can't tell you why this movie doesn't work, it just doesn't. No sense of rhythm, maybe. Lacking on cinematography? I just don't know.
Real shame with a cast lineup like this.
The ending is disappointing too.
Petition to release the Director's Cut with the forty minutes of cut footage restored, and the voice-over removed.
We need more great films with themes of empowerment, finding one's voice and strength, learning to stand up for oneself. For now, at least we'll always have Daria.
