SCF’s review published on Letterboxd:
An epic and daring meditation on time, both in terms of 20th century America, and what it’s like aging within that history.
If Scorsese died next week, I don’t think there could be a more suitable last film for him. It’s a mournful and novelistic study of his spiritual, cultural, and aesthetic obsessions. It’s one of the most powerful filmmakers in the history of the medium reckoning with himself as artist, businessman, and Italian American.
This is a huge meal.
