Greg Andersson’s review published on Letterboxd:
My grandmother developed dementia in the years before she died. She wasn’t the warmest person before its onset, so the disease pretty much amplified the worst parts of her personality. It left her confused. She would leave her purse in the oven. She gave away things to strangers. She accused everyone of stealing from her and was convinced everyone wanted her dead. I watched someone I love deteriorate in front of my eyes. And I watched the toll it took on my father.
So while the subtext of Relic may be a tad heavy handed, it’s kind of dead on accurate. It’s haunting and creepy and sad, and it leaves me hoping my grandmother’s fate doesn’t befall me.
