Scott Tobias’s review published on Letterboxd:
Still such a miracle of a movie, given that doing a sequel at all to Before Sunrise seemed like a violation of its perfectly ambiguous, will-they-or-won't-they ending. That this one night in Vienna did mean something profound to both of them and dramatically shaped their romantic lives afterwards really sets a high romantic tension from the beginning. The ending here is also perfection, of course, but the car ride to Celine's apartment is the scene that really wrecks me. And the whole thing is now enriched by Before Midnight, which is honest about how this idealized relationship, forged over these two brief encounters, is inevitably scarred by the day-to-day reality of being a couple.
