more films need to involve helicopter explosions in the middle of hockey arenas. imagine if call me by your name or whatever had that. maybe i'd like it then

a film that awakened in millions of American men the realization that what they wanted most was a woman who was 6'0", smoked cigarettes, and could beat them to death with a baseball bat

I have never seen a film that both over-explains and critically under-explains so much, that both is unbelievably imaginative and horrifyingly unimaginative, that is both so strangely compelling and so terribly boring. A true anomaly, a strange being that can only produced through the mind of a director that doesn't understand the source material and from a studio that doesn't understand it either. Truly baffling in a way that movies simply aren't anymore.
