Séamus Malekafzali’s review published on Letterboxd:
Takes a decidedly different approach than the one used by another documentary made the same decade about left-wing rebels in the Middle East, Red Army/PFLP: Declaration of World War. While the latter was obsessed with theory, the minutiae of communist politics, and full of repetitive speeches, this film is far more effective in its messaging by being incredibly simple. Still following a Marxist line just the same but emphasizing how it is actually connecting with the national populace through building infrastructure, bringing medical supplies, and teaching basic education. This is a film made by those who actually understand the people they are supporting.
