Ready Player One ½

I'm so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so tired of nostalgia being a replacement for story. Of spectacle being a replacement for story. Of fandoms being a replacement for story. If Spielberg had a ghost director, he needs to get a new one because there's no way on God's green Earth that this was made with absolutely any sense of direction. Ask yourself, what’s the actual point behind any of this? What did the world-building actually manage to establish? Why was this made other than to serve as one giant IP library flex?

EDIT: Deleted edgy post-screening words. Not my brightest. 🤐
