Years ago, the first time I saw this, I watched it dozens and dozens of times in a row because I loved it so much. It took me awhile to get over my little Naked addiction. I take that back, not an addiction, but It's an obsession I'll admit.
I think that obsession has returned but can you blame me?
Ok you can blame me, but whether it's the first time or the the 100th time (it's probably the 666th time I've seen this, just a guess) I've always loved this film. I love the philosophy within the rich dialogue. I love how no matter how many times I see this, I still get lost in the dialogue. Always manages to make me think about my place in the world, "the big picture" if you will. I love how phenomenal David Thewlis is as this lost soul in a sea of characters he doesn't understand. I love the character of Johnny, even if he is an unlikable bastard. He's an unlikable bastard that I kinda relate to, that many of us I think can relate to. I still think this film is just phenomenal.
As phenomenal I think this is, it's a hard film to recommend. If you want to see this, be prepared for something very bleak. Even if you don't love it as much as I do, hell I probably shouldn't love this film as much as I do, it will surely be an interesting experience.
In my eyes, a cold, intelligent, and thought provoking masterpiece.
At the moment, my favorite film of all time.
