I. Simon’s review published on Letterboxd:
Does an incredible job putting you in the POV of a person suffering from hearing loss whilst also being a tremendous character piece at its core. Wonderfully written and directed with so much empathy, sensitivity, and confidence; clearly inspired by Derek Cianfrance (who co-wrote the story with co-writer/director Darius Marder, who previously co-wrote THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES), yet still is very much its own thing with its own directorial voice.
Riz Ahmed for Best Actor. Olivia Cooke and Paul Raci should be more films. Give the sound department all of the awards. And more films should have closed captioning naturally incorporated into them.
Utterly phenomenal. One of 2020’s absolute best offerings.
