This was the film that got me interested in cinema outside of the US. I remember being so blown away by the end of my first watch, knowing that it was nothing like I had ever seen before. Now I am just as blown away on my second watch as I was then. The way Stalker manipulates time so fluidly is unlike anything I've seen alone, but the rest of the film is just as unique. I think this film has the best cinematography ever; from the colors to the lighting, everything the camera expresses is stunning. I could go into what Stalker means, but I feel like it works well no matter how you take it. On my first watch, I wasn't as good at looking for certain things as I am now, but I still got a lot out of it. I still don't know if I got the point of everything Tarkovsky packed into Stalker, but it doesn't matter. I'll also add that the Criterion blu-ray for this is amazing, and I highly recommend it!
