“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.”
Let the essays commence.
This was great. At points it felt like ‘Falling Down’ style wish fulfilment but was more than that. A total indictment of rape culture wrapped up in a pitch black comedy that refuses to stay in it’s lane. Carey Mulligans stylised performance is perfect in that it’s hyper-real but never becomes a cartoon. The message is strong and uncomfortable. An amazing debut made with a great eye, style and score.
Fuckin’ yawn. A mystery with zero tension, no stakes, empty vessel characters made even worse with GCSE level photography talk. It misses the mark so badly that it made me angry.
