DT Kersten’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow. After owning the blu ray for 3+ years, I decided to give this a run today.
On first visit, I love the scale and style. A genre bending epic. The acting at times can seem a bit wooden, but there is such a deep and rich world created here. Kelly clearly has thought about his alternate future. Many things would strike me as strange/off and then, after contemplation, a good number of them made sense. With a couple of the segments (esp. The Killers/JT) Kelly demonstrates a magnetic approach to music videos. I'd be very surprised if he hasn't made them before this film. Going to do some reasearch.
I am ~20 pages into the graphic novel prequels included on the blu ray (how fucking cool??)
Very much looking forward to the announced extended "Cannes" cut and, according to Kelly, a sequel. With how badly this bombed at the BO, I don't see that happening. But, I hope I'm wrong!
