THE BEST COMING OF AGE FILM OF ALL TIME

Rob Reiner’s directorial run from 1984-1992 is as good as any run in history. His first of two Stephen King adaptations during this run was Stand By Me adapted from King’s novella The Body

I recall watching this the first time when I was just slightly younger than the cast. It was the first time I saw a film and was compelled to immediately watch it again. There was something special…

I LOVE THE ATTEMPT. I LIKE THE MOVIE.

There are some great scenes, shots, bits of lighting, bits of action and bits of gore that are simply brilliant. All in all it doesn’t add up to a great movie but the attempt is to be applauded. I want more of these films.

    GOOD CONCEPT. MEDIOCRE EXECUTION

This film has a great trailer. The first 15-20 minutes are compelling if mildly annoying due to the some of the lead character’s choices. Then it sort of unravels and is largely undone by poor cgi.

It’s a mash of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing and Tremors. Unfortunately, it doesn’t live up to any of them.

I considered removing another star due to the closing song choice.

WHERE DID BRUNDLE GET ALL OF  THOSE BABOONS?

Wow. This was a film that Ive been meaning to watch since it’s release and somehow it’s escaped me until now. It seems a film of this magnitude simply leaks into the ether and I felt as if I already knew all of the story beats.

The thing is: I DID know all of the story beats and it didn’t matter. This is such a well crafted horror sci-fi. Goldblum and Davis…
