Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth ★★★★½

Del Toro does an amazing job of storytelling. I was invested in both stories. I was equally invested in every single part of the story. The score was amazing and the performances were solid! Doug Jones is amazing, he has always been so interesting to me. Practical effects are, and will always be greater. I felt at some points that Del Toro was trying to flex what he could do and I’m not complaining. The mythical creatures were disturbing, the humans were even more scary. I would absolutely suggest this to anyone trying to get into horror but can’t quite take that first step. Because it’s not quite horror, but pretty damn close. At times it felt like Alice in Wonderland, the world building is astounding, the whimsy and wonder never leaves this film. Even at the dark and sad times.  9/0
