They're all bad.
I'm not sure why I resisted Bergman films for so long, maybe it's the foreign language, maybe it is their reputation for being "artsy" and difficult, but I'm upset I waited so long. This was a special watch, filled with sacred intimacy and shifting emotional dynamics built from layers so thin they seem to be translucent until they are laid one atop the other and meaning(s) takes shape. The power of the composition of space and camera movement invests the viewer with the same emotional state as the characters, something I've rarely seen done so well. A masterpiece!
