Oh Kurt, when people call him Plissken, he tells them to call him Snake. Then when they start calling him Snake, he tells them to call him Plissken. Haha, what a comedian. It's not an over the top action movie with explosions and all that but the atmosphere, location, plot, characters and let's not forget Carpenter's memorable score, make the film standout. You can tell Carpenter is a fan of Western films, which is why you see Lee Van Cleef, yes, the Bad himself. And later he worked with Ennio Morricone for The Thing, another Carpenter classic.
Some of the matte paintings were done by James Cameron. I'm huge fan of Matte Paintings. The one that comes to my mind is The Thing, which was done by Albert Whitlock.
Overall, Snake Plissken is a badass motherfucker who doesn't give a fuck, a true hero.
Plus, how can you hate a film where Dr Loomis is the President of the United States? He should drop a nuclear bomb on Myers, that will end the franchise for good.
