Mortal ★★½

A harmless, occasionally laughable treatment of a well-worn fantasy trope, the earthly ressurection of Norse gods. It has some heart; “Mortal” wants to be a likeable, “realistic” take on a story that’s saturated popular culture with glossy bubblegum silliness. That and a pair of leads I didn’t hate spending time with—oh! And those locations! 👀—are about as much as I can recommend. It’s also surprisingly cheap, a badly made embarrassment of amateur staging, hilarious CGI and an edit that leaves no plot point untangled. Norway, I expected more from you.
