    It's a Wonderful Life

    Perfect. That's the review.

  • Solaris

Imagine not thinking this is one of the best sci-fi films ever made.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Ranking: My #1 favorite film of all time (as of writing this review).

"Is it OK for me to be here?"

End of Evangelion is a very odd movie.

It’s a sequel to an animated TV series that already had an ending. Its existence is only because of scheduling issues that the original production ran into, which forced them to make an ending which alienated many viewers (though I consider the original TV ending to be a masterpiece in its…

    The Dark Divide

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I will admit the last scene made me jump. Geez, that came out of nowhere!

Overall, this is a solid movie with some seriously great cinematography and acting!

  • Whisper of the Heart

    Whisper of the Heart

This film has many interesting stylistic choices, but who would’ve guessed John Denver’s music being one of them?

  • Tenet

This is simultaneously the best and worst Christopher Nolan movie ever made. It has some truly spectacular moments but is so convoluted, joyless, and confusing-for-the-sake-of-it that it becomes really hard to get engaged or feel any stakes. All that being said, this is truly a unique experience and I’m very happy that ridiculously ambitious movies like this are being made.

  • Parasite

A movie that perfectly balances ‘being entertaining’ and ‘being a genuine work of art’. I have nothing but RESPECT for this masterpiece.

  • Upstream Color

    Upstream Color

Shane Carruth used to be one of my heroes. Both Upstream Color and Primer were huge inspirations for my own artistic projects, and I would tell people all about how underappreciated his filmography was. I watched interviews, read the entire "A Topiary" script multiple times, would listen to the Upstream Color soundtrack on a daily basis, and recommended his films to others.

Today, I just found out about Shane Carruth's domestic abuse allegations. I feel sick. And angry. A man…

  • Kiki's Delivery Service

    Kiki's Delivery Service

There are so many things I love about this. The attention to detail, the jaw-dropping animation, and, of course, Kiki herself, who probably wins as my favorite Ghibli protagonist (of the ones I've seen). This film is all about finding your passion, learning to perservere, making new friends, and enjoying the small things in life, and it juggles all of these flawlessy. It is truly a movie for all ages to enjoy, and the fact that it holds up so well even thirty years later is a testament to Miyazaki's impeccable craftsmanship.

    Neon Genesis Evangelion

Don’t want to be hyperbolic but this might very well be the best animated TV show of all time.

Went in with high expectations and was still blown away. Literally perfect.
