Gun Crazy: Episode 1: A Woman from Nowhere

This was like El Mariachi, Desperado and The Quick and the Dead all rolled into one. Obviously I ate it up. Ryoko Yonekura is amazing on the lead role, what a presence. Awesome, bloody action, a badass heroine in black leather and charismatic supporting characters... Just fabulous.

Letterboxd, the poster is wrong, that's for the second movie.

EDIT: Poster was fixed, thanks. :D

Listen, man, I hate my life so deeply... That if I had 2 million dollars, my life would change drastically.

Might be the greatest line of dialogue ever delivered in a film.

Yeah this shit was FIRE. Most inventive zombie movie since Resident Evil: Retribution. Action-horror might just be my favorite genre, and if a big budget zombie movie can pull off being a mix of Aliens, Predator, Escape From New York and Ocean's Eleven in a well stream-lined event film with a highly charismatic ensemble cast, awesome set pieces, sharp socio-political commentary and a surprising emotional punch, all while dripping with style... It's a 5/5 in my book. Army of…

Good villain, good plot, good characters dynamics between Moon Lee and the other two leads, and some insane fight choreography in exciting set pieces. Unfortunately it drops the ball at little at the very end of the otherwise great 3rd act, but overall this was gas. Needs an HD restoration, those action scenes deserve to be seen in full glory.

    Extended Edition

I genuinely can't tell what is added to the extended edition. There's what, over 20 minutes of additional footage? And I have no idea where it is. Which bodes well for this cut because absolutely everything in it feels necessary, perfectly paced, edited and strung up. I can't imagine this movie with anything from the extended cut being left out. And yet I've seen it? But that was a long time ago.

Not a huge standout, but it has some seriously hype fighting and editing, and Moon Lee full on revenge mode.

The two facehuggers scene is the most terrifying scene in the franchise.

Not quite the masterpiece that is number 2, but this was still some fun, intense stuff.

    Those Who Wish Me Dead

My new least favorite film fan trend is "I'm now going to dismiss this writer/director with an amazing track record entirely because of this ONE movie that I didn't like even though it's not particularly bad and I know it". The sheer amount of bullshit comments I've seen in the likes of "oh no Taylor Sheridan was THE MAN and now he's ruined" because of this one movie. Seriously? This? Jesus fucking Christ y'all are filtered so fucking easily.…
