Charles G’s review published on Letterboxd:
Stanley Kubrick made smart use of the soundtrack and both the technical aspects and cinematography were outstanding. From a technical viewpoint I'd give this movie a near-perfect-score. That being said, it didn't evoke any emotion in me and the pace was too slow for my liking. The astronauts were bland, while some scenes dragged on for too long and often caused me to lose concentration. Personally, I find entertainment to be as equally important. Just like A Clockwork Orange, I was left feeling rather indifferent and unsatisfied.
The only reason I'm as critical as I am right now is because this movie is claimed to be one of the best in film history. Hal, my pal. I'm sorry. However, I'd still recommend 2001: A Space Odyssey as it is a monumental influence on the Sci-Fi genre and a milestone in cinema.
