• Black Widow

    Black Widow

Saw this the other night and already forgot about it.

It's a shame how middle of the road this was because the first few minutes leading into the opening titles were incredible... and then it just went downhill drastically and never lived up to its potential.

Those titles were ballsy too... showing pictures of trafficked girls and Bill Clinton in the same montage.
    Props to marvel for that.

The way the whole opening was put together really felt like a…

  • Stay

I was so certain this was going one way as all the clues that pointed toward my presumed idea of what the twist might have been were so in your face.

However, I was genuinely moved for a few minutes when that appeared to not be so in place for something that felt a lot more honestly.

The whole build-up to this revelation, though, unfortunately rode the line on style over substance.

The filmmakers were far more concerned with having…

    So meta I loved it.
I feel like the next Fast, if there is going to be one, should reach yowg levels of irony.
Then it would truly be on another level of postmodernist cinema.

  • A Quiet Place Part II

    A Quiet Place Part II

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Drags through the uninteresting material and then rushes through all the interesting ones.
What's the point of setting up all these survivor groups and communities if they just get decimated in 5 seconds?

Also, Djimon Hounsou had one of the dumbest and most unmotivated deaths in any film I've ever seen.

Part 2 was nowhere near as exciting or high stakes as the first, but I will say that opening prologue sequence really was fantastic.

Drawn between 2.5 and 3 but I guess I'll round up for now.

  • Michael Clayton

    Michael Clayton

    Really liked this one.
A bit of its charm gets lost in the heavy all dialogue approach, but that also might be attributed to my rising difficulty in focusing on anything outside of my head.
    I don't know.
One of the main reasons it's been hard for me to keep up with films recently, but it isn't permanent.

If I had known this took place in NYC I would've watched it 6 years ago.

  • Zack Snyder's Justice League

    Zack Snyder's Justice League

    I finished this Sunday night.
Despite not having really felt like writing much at all for the longest time, Zack Snyder was a director whose films at one point made a great deal to me, so I wouldn't feel write if I didn't write something.

I can't say his work has stuck with me as much over the years as they once did, and even though I still consider Man of Steel and Watchmen, especially, to be highly noteworthy and…

  • Godzilla vs. Kong

    Godzilla vs. Kong

    Finished it on HBO

Rating this movie feels silly, but if I were forced to I'd give it something along the lines of what the average rating is on here.

It runs all over the place, but given everything it had to set-up and execute in a run time of less than 2 hours, it delivers more than any of the other films did in this universe and lives up to its title.

Now that movie theaters are opened up, I'd recommend seeing this on the biggest screen possible.

  • Godzilla vs. Kong

    Godzilla vs. Kong

Why was this an art film?!?
I had to leave the theater because I couldn't process it all.
I'll be watching this again very soon so I can give off a more calculated interpretation of this multi-layered film.

  • The Father

    The Father

The first time I've ever begged for a film to end so I wouldn't burst into tears in the theatre in front of everyone.

  • Nobody

It really started off so well.
That fight on the bus is probably up there as one of the greatest fight scenes I've ever seen in a film.
Then after awhile it just becomes discount John Wick with the editing style of a Fast and Furious movie.

But, I don't really feel like bitching too much because I live in a first world country and I had the privilege of finally feeling at home again seeing a film alone in a movie theatre.
    It's good to be back.

  • Closeness

I watched this in a crowded room of people last night while blazed as fuck.
Many did not share my perspective, but by being in that state I once again entered an elevated form of reality and introspection that again, is unfortunately not shared by many people in this world.
It did, however, make me look at the film in a different way and gave me an onslaught of new ideas.
I will have to watch this film again…

  • Another Round

    Another Round

This reminded me of myself and my father way too much.

    Watched while blazed.

What a crazy stage of life I'm circling in right now.
