Matt Constantine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Feeling like something out of the 70s mixed with more contemporary spins on the Cyberpunk/Horror genre, this is not for everyone. The violence is palpable and hangs over everything. The concept is unsettling, though I don't know if the film dives as deeply into it as I'd have liked. Still, it's effective. The imagery is upsetting and sublime (with practical effects!). The score works very well to bring it all together. Andrea Riseborough continues her evolution into alien-chameleon, Swinton-esque genre queen. I kept meaning to check out Brandon Cronenberg's previous feature "Antiviral," but something always came up. I'm going to have to fix that soon.
There's no way he'll be able to escape the name recognition and comparisons to his father, but it's clear Brandon has his own thing going here and I'm excited to see what he does next.
