Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth ★★★★

"You're getting older, and you'll see that life isn't like your fairy tales."
- Carmen

Well that was a fairly flippin' fantastical fantasy fable. Gorgeously shot, and with a lovely story line that ran at a frantic pace through 2 hours to a magical conclusion.

It was over in two shakes of a rabbits tail... hang on, wrong fairy tale, scratch that.

No spoilers here though, just love for what is one the best Disney-esque (but not Disney) movies I've ever seen.

Guillermo del Toro really got the best out of the cast, who are committed to their roles and really deliver, especially young Ivana Baquero as Ofelia and the crazy mofo Captain Vidal played by Sergi López. He is one psycho dude, and frankly I was not expecting that level of violence in what appears at first sight to be a fairy tale.

Definitely worth the effort this one.
