Shane McAvoy’s review published on Letterboxd:
I wish this had more bite. I wish it was meaner and went even harder on its subject matter. I wish the dialogue was just a bit more naturalistic and less filled with buzzwords. Honestly just wish this was directed by circa-1980 Brian De Palma. I’m aware
“I wish this movie was a different movie” is terrible criticism. Whoops! That’s on me!! But I’m not a film critic so you can’t get mad at me.
Now my gf and I are going to watch Servant, the M. Night Shyamalan show about a spooky babysitter. We love it. It feels like we are the only two people on the planet who want to talk about Servant. Anyways, pandemic sucks ass! Really wish I could see a new movie in theaters, but the combo of Promising Young Woman and Servant was a nice diet version of that dopamine hit I miss so much.
