always fun to tell people that this is one of my favorite films. it’s highs are some of the highest in all of genre cinema, and its lows give it that simple minded innocence that historicizes it so perfectly within the post 9/11 landscape. context is key: our country’s foremost Multiplex Auteur expresses the trauma of witnessing the towers collapse, American exceptionalism (Spielberg’s bread and butter) under attack. how can you possibly feel safe anymore? you can’t - ie the…

    Wonder Woman 1984

pedro pascal is a simpsons caricature of a bad salesman who somehow becomes the president. kristen wiig is a 40 year old incel who turns into a cat. chris pine is a ghost who takes over the life and body of some random man at a party and literally no one seems to acknowledge how terrifying that is. gal gadot just kinda exists throughout the film, snatching stray bullets and egyptian children with a magic string.

no one shitting on this movie realizes how Awesome it is.
