falling in too many clichés, our film isn’t the strongest entry to hui’s diversely compassionate oeuvre however shu qi, the pixie-protagonist, imbues such vitality to its flawed and rumpled narrative—like she literally spellbinds and soothes away any ill feeling towards the story’s hiccups…
