give me a period romance-drama with a lush score, a queer plot, and a commentary on fleeting time & the tragedy of the everyday

before sunrise feels like merely an introduction now having watched before sunset - the emotions feel realer to me here, the conflict more intense. we as an audience already have questions we demand answered, as do jesse and celine. the pair have lived a little more now that it's nine years later and the cynic that's been developing in me lately connects to their exhaustion and frustration in life and love more so than to before sunrise's cocktail of angst, naiveté, and pretension.

something abt this just. felt like queer self care. I know that sounds concerning as half of the film is an in depth study of suicide and the golden gate bridge... but the recognition of the struggle of navigating intimacy, gender non-conformity, and vulnerability. feeling very seen.
