    Everybody Wants Some!!

In almost every comedic movie I've ever seen, no matter how funny the overall film is, there's going to be moments of drama. It seems all comedic writers need to channel their inner Billy Shakespeare. What I adore about Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some is the closest we get to drama is the comment made by Jake, the character most of the movie is seen through, about Super Baseball Scout Pete Ward, not being real. The tension lasts for seconds,…

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Sometimes we romanticize the wrong people. Killers, thieves, bandits etc etc. QT, never known for passing History class, does something so right, I can’t stop smiling. Instead of painting some sympathetic picture of the Manson Family, he picks Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate as his rightful muse. The passion in her presence is contagious. She doesn’t have a lot of lines, but this is her movie. Without her character, none of this would be possible.

Brad and Leo are real movie…

    Outside the Wire

A damn good action movie with a ‘90s Buddy Cop vibe, Outside the Wire features great chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris. The showstopper is Idris, as his performance commands the screen.

The screenplay could’ve been better, but there’s a lot of action to make up for it.

Outside the Wire is definitely a watchable and entertaining action movie.

    Run Hide Fight

    Die Hard at High School

I’m sure reviews will be all over the place, but RUN HIDE FIGHT is a legit action movie. It is one of the better Die Hard clones in recent memory.

    The upside:
Do you like badass female leads? Well, Isabel May is on fire! John McClane would be proud. Also, the baddies have zero redeeming qualities. They are ruthless scum. You want them to get fucked up.

    The downside:
There’s some paper thin supporting characters,…

Damien Chezelle's tale of a boy, his drums, and a teacher that speaks ever so loudly, and carries the biggest stick of badass this side of the Academy Awards, in one of the most heart pounding cardiac arrest breathtaking intense movies I've ever seen. The opening beat. The opening shot. The first time J.K. Simmons speaks. Groovy funky jazzy music makes all movies better. RIFIFI is the shit. Carter Burke? I knew Miles Teller was going to be special after…

    Hell or High Water

Hell or High Water might be the most adult film I've seen this decade. No gimmicks. No juvenile tendencies. No bull. No cheap shots. It's a Deep Fried Wild West Western Texas Noir, filmed in New Mexico, but it's Texas to the bone.

Jeff Bridges is the cop. Chris Pine is the robber. However, they're both duel-protagonists. The outlaw in me wanted Mr Pine to win the duel. While my conscience cheered on Mr Bridges. Both, have polar opposite partners.…
