Rear Window but stupid and shallow
A rare accomplishment in which a sequel to an iconic standalone horror film both expands on the world it created without taking away from the original. Themes of addiction, recovery, and the congenital cycle of trauma are as potent as ever here, and handled with grace. I loved the mirroring motifs possibly even more here than in The Shining, as typically the duality shown is one of a dark, distorted, asymmetrical image rather than an exact clone. A bizarro world inhabiting our own.
