Don't go into this one expecting a faithful and well executed sequel to an 80s classic because the reality is quite different. Although not a terrible film, this sequel is a comedy horror through and through. Comedy is generally far more subjective than horror but I'm pretty confident in saying that the majority of the humour in this effort doesn't fall flat, but still only rarely hits the mark.
The whole film only ever 'sort of' works because I just feel as though I've seen it all before... except the CHUD Poodle, that's a new one. I am pretty unforgiving about the effects in this film however, the undead in this one make the blue Zombies of Dawn of the Dead look like the most convincing corpses of cinema. The effects artists in this film clearly thought dirty vampire teeth and greyish skin was enough, they were wrong.
If you want an 80s teen romp with heavy doeses of comedy, a slightly sacarin ending and occasional horror, then give this a shot, it could be worse.
